Hello Tech Heads!
We did it again. A successful meeting…well…aside the bombing we took from randos I let join our meeting after we went live of Facebook. What an interesting experiment (NOTE: Our Youtube got flagged for copyright over a song played in the background of one random guest.) I spent the last half of our meeting denying access to legitimate gmail accounts that wanted nothing more then to torpedo our meeting. Young, bord, latinos stuck at home; I guess….It’s ok…it was distracting, but entertaining.
Hopefully we won’t draw so much attention next week. If it becomes a problem we’ll switch to a new Meet code. Until then, here is the audio version of our meeting which includes ‘Vivi (BB) Banter’ at the Beginning.
Today’s meeting covered the following topic:
- Giving Linda advise on testing her Wifi cell calling issues (i.e., cannot receive calls on Wifi/ATT.)
- Oracle Picked as Winning Bid for TikTok U.S. Over Microsoft: WSJ.
- Woman dies during a ransomware attack on a German hospital.
- Lastpass discussion on printing out passwords – here’s the Lastpass help page for Exporting.
- Paper is for Writing, Drawing, and… Typing? Engineers Turn Piece of Paper Into Wireless Keyboard.
Podcast Recommendation: The San Carlos Computer Club – listen to Vivi’s intros
TV Recommendations:
Lovecraft Country (HBO), Poldark (PBS), Death in Paradise (BBC One), Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (Acorn), Taco Chronicles (Netflix), Murdock Mysteries (CBC), Doc Martin (ITV), Burden of Truth (CBC), Eureka (Syfy)
Movie Recommendations: Angel Eyes (Netflix)

We are currently using the Google Meet code: [rgb-rrgc-gqp] for our weekly meeting. This code will probably be the same for next meeting. Check our blog sccClub.org and look for notifications when in doubt.
Reoccurring Themes:
NOTE #1: The Google Meet is scheduled on Google Calendar. If you want to be on that invitation, then provide me your Google account id. Also, provide your email address, or follow the appropriate accounts to see a reminder on the day of our meeting sent out by email, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and WordPress.
NOTE #2: A CHALLENGE: Can you design a phrase or dialog to trigger and execute a smart speaker commands, while masquerading as conversation? #speakerhacker – Any command execution counts, for example: play a song, get the weather, turn on/off a light. The goal is to covertly execute the command with conversation. We’ll play with our speakers and check back in next week. (see article: Uncovered: 1,000 phrases that incorrectly trigger Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant.)
Special thanks to all of you that have been helping in my endeavors. Without your support these things would not be possible.
Intro was personalized and beautified, by the Vivi and myself.
Remember, you can always show your support by taking a moment to go on YouTube and iTunes to review, like, and subscribe. When you do this, it gives our efforts greater exposure. It is as valuable, and as appreciated, as any contribution to the work I’m doing. Thank you.
Can’t wait till next week!
Everyone take care and #techOn!
